New E-Transit Courier introduced in Istanbul

Ford Pro held the global launch of E-Transit Courier, the new all-electric commercial vehicle developed by Ford Otosan, at Ford Otosan’s R&D Center in Istanbul.

The vehicle architecture of the E-Transit Courier was developed according to the needs and expectations identified through customer research and interviews, and designed by Ford Otosan designers and engineers to offer the most suitable solutions to customers with the “Design Thinking” philosophy. The fully connected E-Transit Courier offers 25 percent more load volume and more carrying capacity than the current model.

“The E-Transit Courier takes its segment to the next level with superior EV performance, enhanced payload capacity and full connectivity. Ford Pro’s long-standing market leadership gives us unparalleled insight into customers’ needs. With the E-Transit Courier, we will help our customers achieve high productivity from compact vans thanks to greater connectivity.” Güven Özyurt, General Manager of Ford Otosan, said, “We continue to increase our role in Ford’s electrification journey with the E-Transit Courier, the latest indicator of our engineering and design competencies as well as our production power. We are very proud to develop the design of the new Courier, which we will bring to our customers with both electric and internal combustion engine alternatives, with Ford design teams in Dunton and Cologne and to take full responsibility for its engineering. As Ford Otosan, we will continue to develop and produce vehicles that will always carry us into the future.” In addition to its design and engineering, the E-Transit Courier will also be produced by Ford Otosan at the Craiova plant. The gasoline and diesel versions of the E-Transit Courier will be offered for sale in 2023 and the electric version in 2024.

Fully electric efficiency and charging solutions

The E-Transit Courier’s all-electric powertrain is designed to offer customers a no-compromise driving experience, including a powerful 100 kW motor and single-pedal driving capability.

Targeted to charge1 at home in 5.7 hours with 11 kW AC current, the E-Transit Courier is expected to be popular with customers who prefer home charging. Charging can also be scheduled using the SYNC screen or charging software to take advantage of more favorable electricity tariffs at night.

Customer-oriented design

The all-new body design of the E-Transit Courier offers more load capacity in all dimensions. Thanks to the 1,220 mm rear wheelbase, the compact van can carry two Euro pallets at the same time for the first time. The 2.9 m3 total cargo volume is 25 percent more than the previous model. In addition, the vehicle’s volume can be further increased using the new load pass-through compartment feature, which allows it to carry objects such as planks or pipes longer than 2,600 mm. The all-electric model has a maximum payload2 of 700 kg and a maximum towing weight of 750 kg3.

The E-Transit Courier helps businesses stand out with a bold, distinctive exterior design and a spacious, practical interior tailored to the needs of compact van users. The all-new model includes unique features such as a ’rounded cornered’ steering wheel to improve the driver’s legroom and visibility, as well as standard equipment features such as a gear lever for more storage space, push-button ignition and electronic handbrake.

The “Digiboard” dashboard features a 12-inch touchscreen center display with Ford’s latest SYNC 4 system. Subscription-based Connected Navigation, which will be available in the Turkish market in the future, can increase productivity and reduce the driver’s workload with updates on traffic, parking, charging and region-specific conditions. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is standard4. The innovative, class-unique ‘Office Pack’ includes a foldable flat work surface and lighting to make it easier and more convenient to use a laptop, fill out documents or take a break in the cabin. Driver and cargo safety is a key consideration in the design of the E-Transit Courier. The E-Transit Courier sets a new benchmark in the segment with its comprehensive range of advanced driver assistance systems as standard5. The optional Adaptive Speed Control System with Lane Average and Stop & Go, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Intersection Assist and Reverse Brake Assist make city driving more comfortable. The on-board modem, standard on every E-Transit Courier, provides always-on connectivity with the Ford Pro ecosystem and over-the-air software updates that can enhance the vehicle’s capabilities over time without the need for dealer visits.
