The best-selling cars of 2023 have been revealed. According to the announced data, for the first time, an electric car has claimed the title of “World’s best-selling model.” The Tesla Model Y, which had previously secured its leadership in Europe, now sits atop global sales figures.

According to information shared by JATO Dynamics, although not yet confirmed, an electric model will be the world’s best-selling vehicle for the first time. Tesla’s Model Y has become the best-selling model globally, although the results have not been finalized. With 1.23 million Model Y sales in 2023, the American electric car manufacturer Tesla leads the pack, followed by the Toyota RAV4 with 1.07 million sales. In third place is the Toyota Corolla with 1.01 million units sold.

Significant influence from China

Model Y’s sales figures in China and Europe are leading this leadership. In 2023, the Model Y reached sales of 456,000 units in China. In Europe, it also topped the charts with sales of 255,000 units, surpassing traditional internal combustion engine models. While countries like North America, Europe, China, Australia, India, South Korea, Russia, Turkey, Japan officially released their 2023 market data, many regions like the Middle East and North Africa have not yet shared their official figures.
